The Reality
After spending years tasting wine, visiting the wineries of our Napa winemaking friends and now having a son Ian living in Napa the desire to produce an elegant style Cabernet Sauvignon moved from a dream to a reality and Stout Family Wines was born.
Our initial release was met with resounding success and the dream blossomed and moved to a larger stage which included a partnership with world class Napa winemaker Tom Rinaldi. Together with passion and friendship we have been able to craft a portfolio of delicious Cabernet and Sauvignon Blanc wines.
As a young wine and spirits salesman working for various alcohol distributors in Texas, Guy Stout always had a passion for wine. So, with the support of his wife Kim and his family he bought a small tract of land in the Texas Hill Country in 1999 and established a vineyard/ranch in Blanco Country, and began planting Syrah and Tempranillo grapes. This is how wine became a family affair. The whole family learned about wine from virtually “the ground up”. He took that passion for wine and trained hard to become just the second Master Sommelier in Texas in 2005, and the only Master in Texas for several years, mentoring and training the next wave of Sommeliers. While an impressive feat, as there were only a little over 100 Master Sommeliers in the world at the time, he wanted to do even more with wine.
In 2013, Tom Rinaldi was added as a partner with Stout Family Wines. Tom brings not only a wealth of experience, but a proven record of great winemaking. As the winemaker for Duckhorn Vineyards for over 22 years, Tom helped make Duckhorn the name it is today. He also established Provenance and Hewitt wineries in Napa Valley. With over 40 years in the wine business, Tom remains as passionate about making great wines as ever, stating: “I’ve been given a blank canvas, the greatest paint box in the world to work with and the artistic freedom to put my experience to good use. What could be more fun?”
