Kim’s love of wine began with her father and mother who used to buy cases from small producers of Austria, German and Italian wines in the early 1970’s and hold home wine tastings. Her appreciation of wine grew when she met and married Guy Stout and they along with Ian, Dylan and Ryan planted and ran their vineyard in the Texas Hill country for the last 18 years. This endeavor along with helping Guy study for his Master Sommelier exam gave her a great respect for the knowledge and heart that goes into making a bottle of wine. Her 20+ years as a marketing consultant in the insurance industry gives Kim the organizational skills to handle the back office for this dream project of Stout Family Wines, while step son Ian works with winemaker Tom Rinaldi, Guy and the Porters to make and market a terrific wine.
Ian has been in the wine business since graduating from Texas Christian University over five years ago. He started in the wine business at Rombauer in Napa Valley, spending time in the barrel cellars and working the harvest for several seasons. From there Ian continued to expand his wine knowledge and career with sales positions throughout the valley. With the support of his father, and partnership with Tom Rinaldi, Ian obtained those first barrels which were bottled under the Stout label in 2013. The same wine making methodology used in 2013 is being used today by Stout Family Wines. Napa Valley is one of the most iconic Cabernet regions in the world and is where Ian calls home.
