We are so excited to bring you our first merlot from Coombsville, located east of Napa. This low-lying, bowl-shaped caldera resembles a 'cup and saucer' or horseshoe, formed by a collapsed volcano. The soil is predominantly gravelly, featuring well-drained volcanic ash, weathered rock, and rhyolitic tuff, which allows for deep root penetration. The red wines from this region often exhibit a 'blue and black' fruit profile, complemented by 'old-world elegance' and a distinct, firm tannic structure, sometimes described as mineral or graphite-like. We made 5 barrels, so there is plenty to share!
Come have some fun and cruise with Stout Family Wines & AMA Waterways as Guy guides you through tastings of wines of the region!
