When considering what to name your wine and designing a label, after seeing so many fantasy wines with wild names that evoke stranger things, we wanted to keep it simple. In our case, it is about family, the Stout Family. Guy had in mind that the logo should somewhat resemble the Flying Ṽ 8 symbol from the old big 8-cylinder engine and hood ornaments from the 50’s and 60’s. This idea was shot down by the family. Our sons took over and the Flying Ṽ, became wings, and we liked the idea. The wings took on additional meaning when our oldest son Dylan, recommended that there be 6 strong feathers on each side of the flying wings. You will see 6 feathers on each wing, one wing representing patriarch Guy and his 5 brothers and the 6 feathers on the opposite wing for his 6 sisters. Being from a family of 12 children drives home the meaning of family and the wings! The Wine Will Set You Free. The trim of the label was Guy and Ian’s idea. Look closely and you will see that it is the Star of Texas, representing our home for four generations.
